husband jumper

Posted in Knitting, September at 11:17 pm by myknittedempire

I got a whole ball of yarn knitted up into the husband jumper yesterday, yay!

this morning i did 10 rounds on my sock so that is coming along well too, a lady in the LYS said that about 60 rounds after the cuff was a good amount and it looks like it will be. I am knitting Koigu on 2.25mm needles and it is coming out very nicely, I started out on 3mm and that wasn’t right but as these are for me I have just changed the size and carried on….

Also I manged to tidy the house and do allot of washing so I think I have achieved enough while DH has been away.

sleep

I seem to be prioritising knitting above sleep! that cant be good, I now have 3 different socks cast on….

one cuff down on two circulars in Koigu

one toe up on two circulars in the Knittery’s cashmere and Merino yarn using a tow up method i found on the web, with allot of stitch wrapping.

one toe up in some crap wool I got on eBay using cat bordhi’s Turned toe (I must say I am liking the turned toe).

I am making progress on the husband jumper but not as much as I would like, I have run out of sock needles so at least I cant cast any more on…

Socks

Posted in Knitting, September at 6:39 am by myknittedempire

I must stop trying to knit socks and do the husband jumper!!!

I have got nervous about the husband jumper and have got my LYS to put aside some spare balls of yarn for me, so now I have a time pressure to get it done, so I can either pick up or cancel the balls of yarn.

I got a good 30 rows done on my sock last night….

oh dear, I blame “socks and the city” listening to her talk about socks just makes me want to knit them….

pod-casts

Posted in August, Knitting at 12:33 am by myknittedempire

So in order not to incur the wrath of the credit card gods I have started delivering catalogues to fund my knitting habit. So I’ve been wandering about delivering many catalogues for not much money, but on the upside it has meant I have got through some more of my pod-cast backlog.

I have enjoyed listening to “subknit” which has been an interesting venture into the combination of BDSM and knitting, I really don’t understand the lifestyle aspect of it all, but is certainly interesting.

Socks in the city has inspired my to try socks again, I have started a a toe up sock, not really happy with how is looking so far, my yarn wraps don’t look even to me, and i think my tension is wrong….

I am going to try and find someone locally who can show me how to do this, but I suppose it could be trick to find someone as I want to learn toe up on two circulars, I could offer them a ball of yarn as reward.

The sock, even though I don’t love it, has given me a chance to start with my yarn from the knittery, it really is beautiful (DH has taken my camera to Adelaide so pictures next week)

David Reidy’s Sticks and String, is still by far the most professional sounding and presented pod-cast.  He really does and excellent job, it is always interesting and thought provoking, he pushes his listeners to ‘have a go’, the interviews are interesting and so importantly the sound levels are balanced!!!!! the levels between the music his talking and the interviews all the same.  I really recommend this pod-cast.

Still to go this week are: “its a purl man”, “stash and burn”.

like water off a ducks back

Posted in Knitting, September at 1:53 am by myknittedempire

Money runs away from me like water off a ducks back.

Buying needles irritates me, it seems like i could go on buying needles for ever and still be unlikely to have the one I need at the time I need it…..

I bought Addi turbos, for sock knitting, but i don’t like the shorter length, so now I have bought knit picks in 2.25 and 2.75 in 60cm, I hope these are going to work for me. I think I should sell the Addi’s i have, but i am sure i wont get my money back on them and as soon as I sell them i will probably need them…. is this the Murphy’s law of knitting?

Finished up the booties last night will go and snap a picture and then post them off.

WIP

Posted in Knitting, September at 6:42 am by myknittedempire

I am so busy at the moment, I feel like my whole life is a WIP, which I suppose it is, but I feel like I am currently at a repetitious pattern part, that I don’t care much for.

I am knitting booties for the child of one of the resort staff we met in Fiji. I feel like I have taken too long to do this project so I need to finish them up and post them off ASAP, I am keen to develop my own bootie pattern but I don’t suppose this is the time to do that…

I also need to make progress on the Husband Jumper that hasn’t moved since last week, well it has moved (its been diligently carried about) but I haven’t knit any more of it.

I need a nice 5.5mm  bamboo circular to continue my lace on and i cant find any that I like, I feel it needs to be bamboo to hold the yarn, but they just don’t seem to be very sharp, any ideas would be welcome.
