Focus on the positive

Posted in Knitting, March, photos at 2:43 am by myknittedempire

So, lots of good things have been happening at the moment, but unfortunately that doesn’t seem to change the despair of depression that is closing in around me.

We had allot of earth works done at our house (about 45 tons worth), which is great because the plumbing has needed fixing for a few years now, and now its done! we now have to build a retaining wall.

They found a treasure map in the earth, but alas they found it after it was moved, I guess I will never know….

We went on an outing to the races on Monday (nothing I like much better than skylarking on work time) .

Followed up by some saint Patrick’s day frivolity.

It’s Easter this weekend, so we get a 4 day weekend and we are going to Brisbane for an engagement party  of a High School friend.

I was reading the Knit and Fight the Black Dog posts over on Pierre the Yarn Snob and I thought I should write something, instead of glossing over it or not blogging at all because I am too blue.

When I get down, it is my knitting that suffers the most, I cant knit, I cant blog, I cant do much that isn’t basic living skills.

It’s funny it is the lack of knitting that is often the alarm bell for my mood slippage, when I just can not muster up the energy or inclination to pick up the needles then I know I must be a little more than blue.

Lately I have been pushing myself to try and keep my mood up (I have been socialising and going hard at the gym and generally focusing on the good), but sometimes it just doesn’t work.

I haven’t been very eloquent about all this, but sometimes it’s hard.

Fetching Fetchings

Posted in February, Knitting, photos at 1:58 am by myknittedempire

Here are my fetchings, yes i know this is not knitting I am ment to be doing, i think I may have to give up on the stashalong as i cant seem to get the progects I intend to knit finished but instead start new things, which is ok because I’m still knitting from the stash.

For these I used a ball of Tofutsies, I used it 3 strands at a time to get gauge, i am quite happy with them but the yarn lost quite a bit of dye when i soaked them.

They have now been posted to chilly Scotland

many things for feet

Posted in February, Knitting, Other craftiness, photos at 12:25 am by myknittedempire

Wow what a great weekend!

My DH was in fact supportive of the knitting, I don’t know why that is, maybe I’m easier to get along with when I have a creative outlet…. I have felt like a soulless gypsy for the last few weeks, floating about not doing or achieving anything. I still cant get into my knitting as much as I would like I seem to defeat myself before I start, at the moment I think the problem is that I have quite a bit of yarn in single balls that I don’t know what to do with, I seemed to amass quite a bit of sock yarn int he hope I was about to become a “sock knitter” but that alas did not come to fruition, so any help on what are good projects for sock yarn would be helpful.

Things I feel like I achieved this weekend:

I finished two pairs of booties,

I re-washed 3 pairs I knitted in December

I put on a homebrew wash

I blocked my clapotis (don’t look too hard at the picture, my blocking was quick and dirty, but it did the job)

I made some tomato sauce.

I made a decision that I wouldn’t be knitting the SOTS ii, which is a good thing because now i can stop feeling bad about not doing it.

I have picked up and am knitting on the second lego sock (I want to finish this pair this month, which will leave me two pairs left to complete)

Thank you, nice people

I just wanted to share.I’m an admin in real life, and I am leaving my current role for a new one. This includes a move from one building to another. There were two people in my office who really went out of their way to make me feel like I would be missed, one of them took me for coffee and the other brought me this lovely flowers.

It really brings to your attention how some people will go the extra mile and it is those people who leave the biggest imprint on your life and fondest memories in your soul.

They are two very special people, I will really miss them.

I really enjoy taking pictures, however, I don’t really have a flair for it, but that doesn’t stop me liking it!! Here are a few pictures I took the other day, I was raining and the wetness made everything look so lush.
